REMOVING UNLAWFUL DETAINERS

Gettting a New Start

One of the most terrifying things a person can hear is that their rental application has been rejected. Someone's old UD (or even one that doesn't belong to them) can come back to haunt them at the worse possible time.

A court's eviction file can appear on a tenant screening report for up to seven years after the case took place. This can legally occur even if you showed up in court and proved your landlord wasn't entitled to evict you. In today's tight housing market, the mere appearance of a filed eviction can prevent you from obtaining housing.

Fortunately, there is a process known as eviction expungement in which you can ask the court to seal your file from public disclosure, which results in it being taken off your tenant screening report. One of my focuses is helping people clean up their rental record so that they can obtain safe and affordable housing for themselves and their family.
